HOME DECOR- WARLI WALL HANGING

This is a wall hanging that can be easily made at home. The materials required are- a pencil, a eraser, a stapler/glue, few old newspapers, Pidilite pearl black acrylic paint (you can use any color depending on the background where you want to place it. Also I suggest to use Pidilite Paints to encourage Made In India products), 1 compass, 3 circles of craft paper of different sizes and permanent black marker/ black paint with size 0 or 2 round brush.

This style of drawing is known as Warli Painting which originated in the tribal people from the North Sahyadri Range in Maharashtra, India and is still practiced. These paintings usually depict scenes of human figures engaged in activities like hunting, dancing, sowing and harvesting. In this wall hanging, the three gods – Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh and Lord Krishna have been depicted in this style of tribal art.

  1. Take the 3 circle craft paper cutouts of any color as per your background and make a border line of about 1- 1.5cm width using your compass. Draw any border design that you like but, the design shouldn’t attract a lot of attention.
  2. Then draw the 3 deities as per the order shown in the above image with pencil and then outline them with permanent black marker/ black paint with size 0 or 2 round brush.
  3. Take the old newspapers and make 2 sticks of the same size out of them by rolling the paper and paint them with Pidilite pearl black acrylic paint or any color of your choice as per you background color. Once the paint has dried, join the sticks together at one end only using stapler or glue.
  4. Lastly, paste the 3 circles on the sticks in the order in the above image. The sticks should have this shape like a triangle with only 2 sides like a circumflex ( ^ ).

In case of any doubts, feel free to go to the Contact Page where I have mentioned the contact details and ask me your queries.

DIY HOME DECOR- WALL HANGING

This is a DIY HOME DECOR CRAFT made with barbeque sticks ( if barbeque sticks aren’t available at home, then use old newspapers to make paper sticks and cut them to a standard size a per your required wall hanging size) , Fevicryl Pidilite shiny black acrylic paint (a step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat) , paper quilling and hot glue (Stanley 69GR20B Plastic Gluepro Trigger Feed Hot Melt Glue Gun, APTECH DEALS Crown 80W Hot Melt Corded- a step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat) /super glue ( GORILLA GLUE- a step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat).

  1. Arrange the barbeque sticks is a criss-cross pattern with perfect squares and stick it firmly using hot glue/super glue (of the above mentioned brands for the best results). After the glue has dried, paint it thoroughly with Fevicryl Pidilite shiny black acrylic paint and leave it to dry.
  2. Take the paper quilling strips and quill beautiful little flowers of your color choice and leaves enough to cover all of the intersections. If easily available at home, use any paper flower or plastic flower of bright colors and glue it to the center intersection of the grid.
  3. Once the paint has dried and the paper quilling flowers and leaves are ready, just stick them onto the intersections firmly in a symetrical or asymetrical pattern as per your choice.

I suggest you choose the colors of the flowers according to your wall coloring/wall paper at your home. The best part pf this DIY CRAFT is that it looks beautiful and decent once hanged on the wall even though it is made from simple materials available at home!!!

LEAFY MANDALA

This is another mandala drawing. The main idea was taken from a Facebook group related to art, to which I have made little modifications. There isn’t much to say about this creative mandala – it’s looks speak for itself! The best part of this composition is the combination of the designs in each row of the mandala setting off beautifully with the cool shades of blue and green!!!

STREET EVENINGS

Cheerful and happening,
The streets are in the evening,
Street vendors and hawkers,
Strike bargains with shoppers,

People are seen scurrying around,
Tweets and trills make quite a sound,
Setting sun streaks the sky,
As the night is approaching nigh,

From jewelry to fruits,
From utensils to suits,
The street-traders provide,
With a range of customers wide,

As the night starts closing in,
Everyone leaving to their homes begin,
Vendors thank gods for another good days earning,
And loaded with new goods return next evening!

RECYCLED-PAPER SNOWMAN

This is another art piece made from recycled paper, wool, twigs, glue gun/super glue and acrylic paints. In my last week’s post I have explained how to make this paper mash ( link for your reference given)- MADHUBANI LOTUS ON RECYCLED-PAPER. This piece too has been made from the same process except for a little variation. 1) After making thick paste of the paper, roll it into three balls of different sizes- big, medium and small depending on the overall height you want for your snowman and leave it in the sunlight to dry and become hard. 2) It might take about 2-3 days or a week to dry, so meanwhile take some yarn and start knitting a scarf and a hat using colors of your own choice and the length of the scarf and cap depends again upon your snowman’s size. For assistance with knitting I highly recommend you to visit Studio Knit on Youtube. In case you are not comfortable with knitting you can also take any bits of colorful cloth that you have to make this scarf and cap. 3) Once the 3 paper balls have dried and become solid stick them firmly on top of each other using hot-glue-gun/super-glue in order of big at the bottom – medium- small. Once the balls are completely stuck paint them with thick white acrylic paint (I insist you to use Pidilite Paints if possible). 4) Then prepare the hands and nose – use twigs from fallen branches of plants (do not break twigs from a nice and healthy plants, use only twig from fallen branches.) and paint them dark brown acrylic (again, I insist you use Pidilite Paints if possible). For the nose use the end of a toothpick and paint it acrylic orange (Pidilite Paint). 5) Then pore holes in both of the sides of the middle paper ball and use hot-glue-gun/super-glue to stick the hands firmly into the holes. To fix the nose, take the painted-toothpick end and stick it by poring a hole in the middle of the smallest-top paper ball. 6) Then take the cap and scarf and stick it on the head and between the middle and top ball (neck) respectively. Lastly paint two eyes and a smile on the snowman’s face using black acrylic paints (Pidilite Paints). For decoration purpose, stick small beads or buttons down the body of the snowman.

That’s is the process to make this creative snowman which can be used for home decor made at home without doing any harm to the environment since it is made from recycled paper!!!

GOLDEN-RETRIEVER AND FLOWERS

This is another painting from THEARTSHERPA on Youtube. It is a awesome painting of a golden-retriever with a mouthful of colorful flowers. There isn’t much to say except that the best part of this painting is the expression in the eyes of the golden-retriever along with it’s fur and the colorful flowers going well with each other to create this beautiful composition!!!

MADHUBANI LOTUS ON RECYCLED-PAPER

This is a paining made with acrylic paints on a recycled cardboard material to show a little bit of contribution from my side towards the environment. The steps to make this sort of cardboard are given below:

1) Take any old notebook- it should be completely filled. Tear it into medium sized pieces by tearing 1 page into 2 portions.

2) Take any container according you convenience and pour warm water in it. Soak the paper completely and if you have a lot of free time then you can leave it overnight.

3) If not, then you can use your hands or any other equipment like a masher to make a fine, thick paste of the paper.

4) Then spread it over a cloth and leave it outside to dry in the sunshine for approximately a little over 1 week. If you want it to dry earlier, then first use the cloth to soak out any excess water that is possible.

5) You can also make it into any shape you want and if you want it to have a design or so you can make imprints or decorate it while it is still a thick paste.

Then any design can be painted on it and there you are! Now you have a new decoration item (depend on your choice and creativity) or a cardboard for acrylic or modern art paintings all with recycled notebook!!!

BUTTERFLY & MANDALA

This is the beautiful designs of mandala drawn into a butterfly’s wing. The idea was taken from Facebook and I found it quite interesting, so I modified it in my way and here is the drawing! The best part of this design is the way the mandala designs correspond with the butterfly to make it really expressive and beautiful!!!

THE RAINBOW TREE

This is a colourful painting which I have painted by watching TheArtSherpa on Youtube. It is a wonderful channel to learn painting from! This is a creative style of painting. To view another painting learnt from TheArtSherpa, click the link : https://artistic.poetry.blog/2020/09/11/candle-painting/

The best part of this painting is of course, the wonderful rainbow colouring!!!

BLACK-WHITE MADHUBANI SCENE

This is another beautiful composition of the Madhubani style. The lady , the house , the goat, and tree combination and their positions were taken from soma@folkart from google. The designs, the filling and the black and white distribution was done by me. The best part of this composition is the intricate design going well with the scene!!!

IF I KEPT A TIGER AS A PET !

If I kept a tiger pet,
Nothing to eat I would get,
As it would gobble-up all my food,
And would spare me nothing chomp,
Which is very rude,

I would have to be friends with other tigers,
Which includes the cross-breed liger,
As a normal human I would have invite them home,
And all over the city they would roam,

Soon I would be arrested by cops,
And my tiger would wave at me grinning,
Wearing sunglasses, from the nearby shops,
And that’s how it will end probably,
My pet tiger occupying my entire home,
Not only the generously provided balcony,
But, a pet tiger though, for such a price,
I think next time I’ll just pet some mice!

RELAXATION MANDALA

THIS IS THE PLAIN DRAWING OF THE RELAXATION MANDALA WHICH I HAVE CAREFULLY DESIGNED. I HAVE INSERTED IT HERE IN CASE ANYONE WANTS TO COPY IT OR REFER TO IT FOR YOUR DESIGNS. THE DRAWING PART IMPROVES CONCENTRATION AND CALMS THE MIND !!!

This is the coloured relaxation mandala. Now it is quite likely that you are thinking, “What is relaxation mandala? And how is it different from the other mandalas?” Well I have also posted MULTI-COLOUR MANDALA. But this mandala is different from the others because when you design it it improves concentration and calms down our minds, not only that but even when you simply colour this type of a mandala it acts as a temporary stress reliever. In this particular relaxation mandala the theme is of the special vegetation and more over most recognised wildlife of my dear motherland – India. In the centre I have designed the ashoka- chakra but it has been drawn four times-Why? I have kept the entire design in four theme that is a square because I also wanted to depict the National Emblem of the Republic of India which is a four-sided and four-headed lion which faces the north , south, east and the west known for Satyameva Jayate. Infact I have designed the entire mandala in honour of our National Emblem. The best part of the mandala is the perfect synchronization of our National Emblem along with Tiranga- The Indian National Flag, the Ashoka-Chakra; which a part of our flag, the Lotus– our national flower, the Bengal Tiger– our national animal, the Peacock – our national bird, the Asian Elephant – our cultural symbol; the importance of Lord Ganesha in Indian’s life and the Indian King Cobra– often depicted with Lord Shiva ( the father of Lord Ganesha ) as Vasuki and Lord Vishnu as Adhishesha/Shesha/Sheshanaga and is worshipped as a symbol of  wisdom, changes, enchantment, hypnosis, protectiveness, danger, poison, determination, fear, strength, courage, confidence, transformation, royalty, death. They are also a symbol of speed, defensiveness, and gracefulness. I hope you enjoyed learning about our Indian Culture !!!

SUMMER

During the summer, the sun shines bright,
And covers everything in a warm yellow light,

We find ourselves craving for ice creams,
It gives us sweet dreams,

The beach becomes our favourite place,
A tan starts changing our face,

Of all the seasons, I like the summer best,
Before the school starts again,
It gives me quite a long holiday, a time for rest!

SAMUDR MANTHAN

This is a scene in of the Great Samudr Manthan that is recognised as one of the most significant events in Hinduism. I have composed it in one of the most traditional forms of art – Madhubani. I learnt this composition from a wonderfull workshop- the same workshop that taught me the Madhubani style. The best part of this drawing is the detailing, the colour scheme and the way the the scene has been imaginatively as well as creatively recreated!!!

RADHA – KRISHNA

This is another Madhubani drawing of the extremely well known Lord Krishna and Radha his dearly loved one. The idea and the main outline of the drawing was taken from soma@folkart, yet I have made changes like the colour scheme, filling, etc.The best part of this composition is the beautiful way Lord Krishna and Radha have been depicted, the artistic way in which the feeling of the composition reaches the observer!!!

PORTRAIT OF TAYLOR SWIFT

This is one of the many portraits I have drawn. This is a composition without colour (shaded) The idea was taken from Google, all have done is made some variation to it…. Taylor Swift is one of my favourite popstar so I was interested in drawing her portrait (in case you are wondering). The best part of this portrait is that her expressions are to almost perfection!!!

MULTI-COLOUR MANDALA

This a multi-colour mandala. It depicts the different combinations you can design within one type of drawing. The idea was taken from a Facebook photo of such a kind of mandala, yet I have made many variations in the drawing like for example the colour scheme can be anything that shows the differences along with the symmetry. The best part of this mandala is that it differentiates between each individual row and design without losing the symmetry of the composition!!!

MADHUBANI – A COVERT MEETING…

This is another drawing form the madubani style…the main symbols used in the drawing are the lotus and sugarcane in the background. Lotus motif symbolizes feminity while the Sugacane motif symbolizes a sense of mascular being. These two symbols are used widely as wall patterns especially on the walls of the house where newlyweds live. The best part of this composition is the use of the masculine and feminine figures that go along with the motifs in the background which creates mood of the composition!

TO MY BEST FRIEND- A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY !

A friend is a person,
Who will always be on your side,
No matter what,
Wherever you hide,

MANY MANY WISHES OF THE DAY!!!

A friend is someone,
Who will always come to your aid,
Whatever the trouble is,
In the time of need,
A friend will never fade,

A friend is a being,
Who will always lift your spirits,
No matter how sad you feel,
No matter how down in the pits,

So, A Very Happy Birthday,
To Aagna, my dear friend,
Thank you for everything,
And I hope our friendship will never end!

WINTER

It is the season of the snow,
And it is the season when,
Birds and squirrels,
Take shelter in a bough,
And the snow covers the land,
With a soft white glow,

The children are playing happily,
Building snowmen and snowballs,
While the grannies are sitting indoors,
And knitting warm shawls,

The mothers are baking lovely cakes,
Frosting them with delicate snowflakes,
And the fathers are on holiday,
And reading newspapers, at home they stay,

All the families are preparing for Christmas,
Which is beckoning around the corner,
And children hope for presents,
Before the Santa Claus goes away, when winter ends!

COMIC ADAPTATION-LEAKY LIMERICKS

This is a comic adaptation done by me. The limerick is a poem from the Brain Quest. This is a type of art which amyone with a bit of imagination and creativity can do… as for me , even I too have done it only for fun! The best part about this type of art is that it creates visual effects for any poem which makes the poem reach to the reader very easily and it also it quite entertaining!!!

PIZZA AND HEALTH

What is a pizza?
How does it taste?
Is it really yummy?
Or is it not the best?

You tell me it’s delicious,
But is it good for health?
You might give a thought to it,
For after all fitness is your wealth,

I must agree though,
Its flavor cannot be denied,
I too would love to eat it every day,
If I kept my health aside,

With its soft, crusty bread,
Spread with sauce and lots of cheese,
It looks quite savory,
I think I’ll forget my health for once and have a slice, please?

ARIPAN

This is a Aripan which is a type of tile design. It is related to a mandala as well as madhubani art as it is used as a tile design in the Indian state of Bihar. There is always a theme to this type of design. In my drawing, I have based the theme on nature. The best part of this design is that all the colours have given the effect they were intended to give, the cool water; the home of the lotus flower and the green parrots, warm yellow background along with the sharp red chillies which have given so much character to the design !!!

MANDALA

This is another form of art which is also very detailed and artistic. I have learned this form of art called Mandala from an awesome workshop…. the base of these drawings are completely geometrical. The best thing about this form of art is that it increases concentration and calms our mind!!!

RAINY SEASON

The time of the year
That fetches the rain
Enjoying the down pour
No one can refrain

Called the Rainy Season
It’s a spell of excitement and fun
For as soon as it’s starts raining
Outdoors all the children run

When the first rain splashes the mud
The aroma is quite appetizing
I feel like devouring ladoos of it
It’s fragrance is so tantalizing

Pleasant not only for fun
Farmers happily receive rain
For it helps their crops flourish
Which they had grown with immense pain

There is a feeling of freshness
Floating all around
The gaily gushing of the rivers
Is a pleasant sound

The Rainy season is a joyful one
Which helps us experience the beauty of nature
Loved by all
Mother Earth shows us another great feature!

THE PAPER PLANE

There once was a paper plane,
Which was white and square,
Once it flew into the air,
It took a long time to come down again.

It really loved to fly,
Up into the sky high,
It was the best place for the plane to be,
For there was always lots and lots to see.

It glided awfully well,
And made all its spectators marvel,
The spectators may be old or children,
The paper plane never minded as everyone was its friend!

IF I WERE A BUTTERFLY

If I were a butterfly,

I would eat butter,

And flutter by.

Honestly I would change my name,

As it is the reason of my unwanted fame,

It is a nuisance to be caught,

Due to it I am distraught.

I always feel that the humans around,

Are overrating me,

For I’m just a small insect you see,

I should really be left alone,

I’m warning you,

Or I’ll break your bone!

THE ANGRY PENCIL

I belong to a little boy,

Who seems to think I’m a toy,

He doesn’t bother to use me for study,

And always shoots me at his buddy.

He also puts me through a lot of pain,

Sharpening me again and again,

I wish to do something horrible to him,

But, he has never yet become my victim.

But one day I’ll make sure to get my revenge,

You might think of me as strange,

I really wish I belonged to someone else,

Then, I could have lived happily and wouldn’t have had to plan such rebels!!!

SMILE PLEASE!

A smile is a curved line,

Which makes things straight,

A smile is an expression,

Which dissolves the feeling of hate,

A smile is a mile,

That stretches from ear to ear,

A smile is a symbol of assurance,

In the midst of fear,

A smile is the shortest distance between two people,

Without smiling we look quite feeble,

So always be sure to smile, my friends,

As it looks quite beautiful before all the latest trends!

SPRING

The season when flowers bloom,

The season when joy washes over the gloom,

Also known as the season of rebirth,

And the season very well known for regrowth,

The name of this season is spring,

When the nature is happy,

And states the start of summer,

With the weather becoming warmer,

The sweet scent of flowers,

In the soft breeze,

And the butterflies fluttering,

Makes us feel that the nature around us,

Is quite at ease,

I like this time of the year quite a lot,

As the climate is lovely,

And a variety of wildlife,

We can spot!

GHOST

One night I felt eyes on me,

I opened my eyes as frightened,

 As anybody could be,

 Looking around,

I saw a shadow,

Hidden in the dark,

In a corner near the window,

With curiosity I watched it shift,

It suddenly turned to look at me,

And I made a dive into my blanket, really swift,

Towards me it started floating slowly,

The scene for me was quite not jolly,

Suddenly it grabbed my arm,

And I started shrieking,

Before it could do any harm,

Abruptly I was thrown off my bed,

Awakening with a throbbing head!
